Supporting Immunity Naturally

Let’s stop focusing on unreliable information and fear and, instead, center ourselves around what we can actively do for our good health. We’ll spend a few Saturday afternoons in September and October exploring ways to take action and give our bodies some extra TLC to help support the immune system.

The natural healing properties of essential oils and aromatherapy offer so many benefits to the body – stress relief, sleep support, mood enhancers, promote healthy digestion and circulation. Our bodies are “fearfully and wonderfully made”, but the onslaught of toxins attacking us daily has negatively impacted our health and immune system.  Come learn about alternative healthy options with basic steps to rid your home of toxins and safely cleanse your body with proper nutrition and eliminating toxins.  Register here.  

September 26 – Yin Yoga – Karen Babcock

Yin Yoga is a slow mindful practice that opens up the energy channels and calms the mind while stepping up the body’s natural processes and improving overall health.   Practicing surrender in Yin can aid in learning how to relinquish control and release stress and anxiety.  And the physical benefits of the deep stretches help increase range of motion and flexibility, lengthen and strengthen muscles, improve balance and move lymph through the body.  Register here.

October 3 – Energy Healing – Jen Fedorowicz

October 10 – Healthy Relationships – Kacie Steinmetz

According to Harvard Health Publishing, “Good connections and social support can improve health and increase longevity.”  The power of positive connection promotes stronger immune systems, giving us the ability to stave off infection more efficiently and recover more quickly.  The most authentic, healthy relationships are best created and nurtured between self-aware individuals who are willing to explore a deeper connection to oneself and how it affects our relationships.  In that vein, we’ll first explore our relationship to self and then how we can command our reactions to others when we’re triggered and shift from a culture of shame and blame and anxiety to a culture of hope and love and support.  Register here.

October 17 – Massage and Reflexology – Rachel Mattox

Research is beginning to show more and more that massages don’t just feel good, they’re incredibly good for your body!  Massage therapy stimulates the immune system by increasing circulation which helps to move lymph through the body, carrying toxins out.  It can help reduce cortisol levels, boosting mood and easing stress and anxiety.  Rachel will give us tools we can use at home for self-massage, reflexology and reiki self-healing with chakra stones.  Register here.

October 23 – Hypnotherapy – Lynn Wiederhold

Lynn will be sharing the benefits of hypnosis in response to easing stress and supporting the mind-body connection.  She’ll guide us through a short hypnosis session and give us tools to take home to do our own self-hypnosis process to aid the body in its best health and strengthen the mind-body connection.  Register here.

Yoga Nidra and Sound Healing

We will gather together to relax our bodies, empty our minds, and let our spirits soar.

The arts of meditation and sound healing will guide each of us to look inside and discover the universe within, leading us not only to new inner experiences, but helping to transform our day-to-day life into a better, and more meaningful and fulfilling existence. As well as restoring inner peace and balancing one’s chakras, these healing arts can help alleviate symptoms of stress and aid physical health.

Let the vibration and sound waves of the quartz crystal bowls wash over your body, creating a sound bath for your entire being, and let the chimes dance around you like the breeze at the oceans edge.

No experience necessary, all are welcome!!

Wear comfortable clothing; bring water, a yoga mat and/or blanket, a pillow and whatever else you need to be relaxed and comfortable.

On this Independence Day, I hope you find freedom On this Independence Day, I hope you find freedom from stress, a frantic pace, constant screen distractions, resentment, pain or whatever else weighs you down. 

I hope you have the chance to celebrate with friends or get in nature, move your body or relax someplace cool and quiet. 

Regular class schedule will resume tomorrow. If you need a place to find a supportive community, to gently move your body, to relax someplace quiet or find Self in a natural setting, join us for yoga tomorrow or any time. We’d love the chance to be a relief from the things that make you feel less-than-free.

One of my favorite fragrances has always been gardenia.

We took out some rosebushes a couple years ago, but left this little bush in the flower bed. I didn’t know what it was because it didn’t bloom very often or very well, since it was over powered by the roses.

This morning, I sat in meditation out back. (Yay for beautiful weather!) I kept smelling the most fragrant flower, and I couldn’t quite figure out what it was. When I stopped to look around I recognized I had a beautiful gardenia flowering right next to me!  And boy was she showing off!!

It’s Saturday… If you take the time today, what beauty will you stop to see that you hadn’t seen before?

With so much joy, we welcome (back) Michelle Moore With so much joy, we welcome (back) Michelle Moore to our family of instructors on Thursday nights! 

Michelle is very proud to have spent the better part of her life right here in Virginia Beach, Virginia and here is where her heart has always been!
In 2009, she fell in love with yoga and went on to acquire her 200-hour certification in 2011.  She taught at several studios, including Shine, up until 2019.  The pressures of life in corporate America pulled her away from teaching for a while, but with that life style now behind her, she is eager to return back to the Shine studio.  She is a believer in the power of being still and present and takes pride in ensuring that all practitioners, whether new or seasoned, leave her class feeling that they walk away with just what they need.

Michelle teaches a variety of styles from slow flow to fast, from yin to sound healing, including gong baths. 
She will be leading a Thursday evening Slow Flow at 6:30pm starting June 9th.

Join Wren on Friday for a Yin and Journaling class that is divinely timed to happen during the Balsamic Moon phase. Yin yoga lays the foundation for openness and emotional release followed by brief breaks between postures to write. The Balsamic moon is the darkening phase of the lunar cycle just before the new moon. We will lean into the influence of the moon releasing what no longer serves and making room for what does, in divine time.

Bring a journal, something to write with, your mat, water, a cozy blanket, and any special items you would like to set upon our group altar. We can’t wait to see you for this transformational night.
