What Do I Need To Know?
When you take one of our classes, we’re not focusing on perfection. Your yoga practice is exactly that – YOURS. And the goal for us at Shine is to ensure that you feel moved – toward better health, toward higher levels of joy, understanding, and compassion – so that when you come off the mat, you feel like you can move mountains.
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your first class. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of all subsequent classes.
- Please place your belongings – shoes, keys, and bags – in a cubby before entering the practice room.
- Please remember to silence your cell phone.
- You should bring a yoga mat, a bottle of water, and a positive attitude.
- If you need to step out of class, that’s okay! Please try to leave during a period of rest. If you plan to leave early, please sit by the door and leave quietly during a period of rest – preferably before the final rest.
Honor Your Body!
Yoga is a personal practice, not a competitive or comparative one. Each of us has our own individual levels of strength, flexibility, and experience. That’s what makes the practice so much fun! Your body may express the postures in a way that is unique to just you. So do not push it too far, too soon. You are the only one who knows how you’re feeling at any moment, so listen to the wisdom of your body and take care of yourself. Never force yourself into any posture and modify wherever necessary. No posture is worth injury.
- We respectfully ask that you sign up for classes at least one hour prior to class time; doing so ensures that your mat space will be reserved and you’ll be guaranteed a spot in class.
- Missed reservations not canceled one hour (or more) prior to class time will be charged full drop-in rate.
- *Weather Policy: Please check our FB page or Wellness Living for any immediate closings due to inclement weather.

Yoga for Youth, 13-17 yrs:
Teenage years can be a mentally, physically and emotionally challenging time in a young person’s life. Yoga can be a positive outlet that allows teens to look inward and find center.
In this yoga series, we will emphasize the importance of mental and physical relaxation by providing tools to help calm when feeling stressed, to help focus before tests or homework, and explain the benefits of what we’re doing so they can come back to it when they need it.
In a compassionate environment, we aim to see teen students from a new light, help them become self aware, believe in them and support them.

Hatha Blend:
Hatha Blend is a multi-level fusion of traditional yoga sequences, energy medicine practices to awaken and balance the subtle body, inspirational readings, prayer and silence. It is a lighthearted practice that acknowledges the sacred ordinary and the miraculous nature of heart, soul, mind and strength. It focuses more on slow, controlled movements, deep breathing and stretching.

Flow:
Move and flow with your breath in this vinyasa flow appropriate for all levels. Vinyasa yoga focuses on connecting the breath to your movements, which tend to be set at a faster pace. In a vinyasa practice, you can expect to stay in a constant flow of movements.

Pajama Yoga (Online Only):
“The best bed that a man can sleep on is peace.” – Somali Proverb
Put on your best jammies and roll out your yoga mat for a peaceful practice designed to help the body prepare for a good night’s sleep. We begin by warming up our bodies and letting go of the stress of the day, shaking it all out and moving into some poses to raise the temperature and the pulse. We incorporate some acupressure and tapping, energy work and the occasional yin pose, and then we gently bring it down and prepare for sleep with an extended Yoga Nidra.
Practicing from home presents the unique opportunity to have a gentle practice immediately before going to bed. And we still get the benefits of being in community with other yoga devotees.
Students are welcome to practice in their jammies; though not required, it is strongly recommended that we all practice on camera so alignments and modifications can be noted where necessary. Please log in early to ensure entry to class.
